“Which of the photographs is my favourite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow.”

– Imogen Cunningham

Well after years of training in the wedding photography industry, my busiest year to date was upon me. What an exciting year this was going to be. The year all my hard work was to pay off and my diary was looking fruitful. I was looking forward to some fantastic weddings at some incredible venues, but little did anyone know, and no one could have ever predicted, what the world was going to be faced with.

My camera sat gathering dust for a few months, the world was in shock, my heart went out to my couples who had done years of planning and the show just couldn’t go on. The priority had to be trying to save the nation. Looking at the big picture, families are losing loved ones to this dreadful pandemic that spares no one.

“Seems silly, doesn’t it? A wedding. Given everything that’s going on?” – Ginny Weasley

“Maybe that’s the reason to have it. Because of everything that’s going on.” – Harry Potter

The show must go on…

Fortunately, I’m locked in a busy household. My daughter, Poppy, is back home from the London College of Music. My son, Brad, and his girlfriend, Becky, who is on furlough from the York Gin Distillery, are locking down with us. My youngest, Harvey, was secretly delighted to be missing the majority of his first year at secondary school. So, all in all, never a dull moment! I therefore decided to do a styled shoot in my back yard and keep my hand in with some lighting skills I’d learned at various workshops. It helps having offspring that occasionally agree to model for you, but when they are on lockdown there’s no escape! 😉
